Why Avery Row for baby changing bags?
Baby changing is often time-sensitive and can happen at the trickiest of times. Our approach is simple: design bags that make the routine easier, with practical organisation, styles that suit real days out, and considered materials chosen to balance design with everyday use. Whether you prefer a backpack, tote or organiser, the goal is the same: fewer searching moments and a calmer change when you’re on the move.
How to choose the right baby changing bag
Choosing the right changing bag for you is an important decision. It's not all about 'more storage', but matching your own personal routine with unique design styles to fit
Capacity and size for short or long outings
Your essentials for a short outing look different to a full day out. For a short outing, a smaller pouch pram organiser bag for the bare essentials is perfect, while for a longer day out you'll want roomier backpack or tote options in order to pack feeding items, spare layers and toys.
Organisation - pockets win vs one big compartment
Internal sections and pockets are a must and help keep wipes, creams and smaller essentials all in one place, which really matters when you're changing one-handed. Across our bag range we've included super handy internal and external elasticated, zipped, thermal pockets.
Carry style: backpack vs tote vs organiser
If you want a hands free day out option, our backpacks are a great choice, especially when juggling family life. For a long day out walking with the pram our tote bags are quick for grabbing what's needed with plenty of room for all the essentials. Our organiser bags suit a 'minimal kit' day attached to the pram or as a crossbody.
Pram compatibility
It's important your changing bag sits securely on your pram and is easily accessible for busy family life. Our pram attachment clips have been designed to university fit all prams with easy, adjustable velcro attachments. All our bag styles (backpack, tote and organiser) can be purchased with or without pram bag clips. Our pram bag clips can also be purchased separately.
Materials & care
Considering how you keep your parenting essentials clean is important when it comes to busy family life. With changing bags it's important that the fabrics inside and out have protection - perfect for keeping your items dry and quick wipe-downs. Our recycled nylon bags use water-resistant fabric inside and out while our organic cotton canvas bags use a water resistant coating inside and out.

FAQs
What size baby changing bag do I need?
It depends on how long you’re planning to be out and about. For a short outing, you typically only need a few baby essentials like nappies, wipes, nappy sacks, a small changing mat and a spare outfit. Our pram organiser bags are perfect for a more lightweight, smaller option for a short outing. For longer days, you’ll often add feeding items, extra layers, toys and a muslin, so would benefit from a roomier main compartment and better organisation. Our totes and backpacks are a great choice for a longer day out. If your bag always feels “too small”, it’s usually an organisation issue (not enough sections) or you’re packing for every possible scenario. Our bag options ensure they keep your essentials organised.
What’s better: a changing backpack or a changing tote bag?
A backpack is best if you're walking a lot, carrying baby or want flexibility to switch from buggy attachment to back carrying. They evenly spread the weight across both shoulders making them a comfy option when out without the pram. A tote bag is a great option for pram outings, often quicker and easier for grabbing baby changing essentials because it opens wider and sits more accessibly. Both our backpacks and totes are great essentials for parenting life.
What should I keep permanently stocked in my changing bag?
A simple “always ready” kit includes: nappies, wipes, nappy sacks, hand sanitiser, and a spare vest/outfit. Many parents also keep a muslin and a small changing mat ready to go. Having the essentials always ready means you only top up nappies and wipes rather than repacking from scratch each time.
Do I need pram bag clips, or is a shoulder strap enough?
If you use the pram daily, clips can keep your bag within reach without sliding around or taking up basket space. If you don’t always have the pram, comfort while carrying matters more, shoulder strap or backpack carry tends to be the priority. Clips are worth it when “bag attached to a pram” is part of your normal routine, not an occasional convenience.
What’s best for travel: changing bag + travel changing mat or an all-in-one setup?
For travel, portability and speed matter: a lighter bag, simple organisation, and a travel changing mat you can deploy quickly. A travel mat is useful even if you already have a good bag, because it turns almost any surface into a quick changing spot. If you travel often, a backpack style is popular because it’s comfortable when you’re carrying extras (snacks, layers, toys) for longer stretches.
Are your baby changing bags water-resistant?
Our recycled nylon and organic canvas changing bags are all water-resistant. Our recycled nylon bags use water-resistant fabric inside and out while our organic cotton canvas bags use a water resistant coating inside and out. Our denim bags are not water-resistant due to the unique composition of the denim fabric. It’s best to check the product page for the specific bag you’re considering.
Are your baby changing bags eco-conscious?
Using responsible, sustainable materials is a core value at Avery Row. Our entire bag collection is made with more considered materials including recycled fabrics, organic cotton and organic dyes. Materials vary by product to please check each product page for the exact fabric and construction details for the bag you choose.
Can I use a baby changing bag after the baby stage?
Yes, many people keep using them as day or overnight bags because the organisation is still useful and the designs are stylish with or without baby or buggy. If you want something that transitions easily, look for a style that suits your everyday wardrobe and doesn’t rely on overtly “baby-specific” design cues. We design all our bags with this in mind. A well-organised, high quality, tote, backpack or organiser can stay useful long after nappies are gone.
