Tips on Coping With Morning Sickness

Discovering that you're pregnant is such a wonderful feeling, regardless of whether it's your first time or not. But let's be real, alongside the thrill of expecting a little bundle of joy, we're usually greeted with morning sickness. You can expect morning sickness to begin around the sixth week of pregnancy and it can hang around until around the end of the first trimester. But remember, every pregnancy is different, so don't be surprised if yours decides to stick around for a bit longer or stops earlier than expected. Scroll below to see some of our top tips on coping with morning sickness 💖

1. Eat Small, Snack Like Meals
Keeping something light in your tummy can help keep away those waves of nausea. Think crackers, pretzels, or even a handful of nuts – anything to prevent your stomach from being empty. Also, Lemons! Drink lots of lemon water, the sourness can help keep the nausea away.

2. Get Your Ginger Fix
Whether you opt for ginger tea, ginger ale, or ginger snaps, this spicy root is known for its soothing effects on the stomach.

3. Scent Solutions
Your senses heighten during pregnancy. If certain scents are triggering your gag reflex, don't be afraid to get rid of them from your home. We recommend natural smelling products like lavender or ginger oil. It's also important to keep some fresh air flowing when you can to help clear the air.

4. Get That Protein
Even though you may not be craving protein, the more protein you eat earlier in the day, the better it will stave off nausea. This can be from eating beans, nuts as well as quality meat and dairy sources. Eggs are especially good, as they are high in B vitamins which can also help with nausea. Smoothies with your favourite protein powder are another good option.

5. Try Pregnancy
 Yoga
We appreciate if you're feeling nauseous, you may not be feeling up for yoga, but a little prenatal yoga can work wonders for both your body and your sanity. You might just find yourself feeling a little less queasy in the process.
