Having our roots in London, and being inspired by the natural world around us, it's no wonder we LOVE Chelsea Flower Show. With our cameras slung over the shoulder and sketch pad in hand we headed there again this year to soak up the beautiful displays. And this year hasn't disappointed us, scroll down to read our top three gardens...
We particularly loved The Mothers for Mothers Garden – ‘This Too Shall Pass’
"The expression ‘This too shall pass’ is a mantra passed between mothers navigating the challenges of raising young children and the associated mental health challenges that can come with it, from postnatal depression, to anxiety and isolation. This garden is a garden for mothers and represents a place of transition: from despair to hope." Supported by the amazing charity Mother for Mothers and designed by Pollyanna Wilkinson. We just loved the calm and tranquil nature of this space.
Our next fave was the 'Rewilding Britain Garden'
A matter close to our hearts and inspiring our future collection (spoiler alert!), the rewilding garden was a beautiful mix of wildflowers, willows and grasses with timber and stone from Somerset - another place we hold dear here at Avery Row with our main office being located in Bath. Designed by Lulu Urquhart and Adam Hunt and sponsored by Rewilding Britain. It's no wonder this garden won gold and Best Show Garden.
A real stand out was the 'BBC Studios Our Green Planet & RHS Bee Garden'
We love to inspire people to help look after Mother Earth, and that is exactly the purpose of this garden. They aim to encourage people to grow "bee-friendly plants and encourage people to think of the power of plants to help our precious pollinators. The beautiful silhouette of a bee’s wing is central to the design, which is an uplifting space highlighting what people can do for bees and other pollinators in their outside spaces." This garden was bursting with beautiful blooms, nectar and pollen - perfect for our buzzing friends. Designed by Joe Swift and and built by Landform Consultants.
This year, the standout themes were 'rewilding' and 'protecting our planet'. This is music to ears as we continue to strive to put sustainability first. We can now head back to the studio armed with pages of sketches and a wealth of knowledge...
And finally, we had take a trip to the Kings Road to look at the beautiful store front flower displays! From Rixo to Ralph Lauren, they really went all out to create amazing displays. Scroll down to see our faves...
